  • The terrain should be able to carry the weight of the bus. We strongly prefer to be placed on concrete/asphalt, as the bus risks getting stuck on muddy dirt roads and/or grass, especially after or on a rainy day.
  • The terrain and/or event decoration should not provide any obstacles for the bus entering and leaving the event, nor when the bus is stationary. Please consider low hanging decorative lights, tree branches, signage etc.
  • Steep driveways and/or deep gutters are a massive challenge for our bus as the front of the bus may hit or scrape the ground when driving up or down.
  • Please also consider any difficulties that may arise by having to manoeuvre in between other food trucks. If the area is small, we are usually the very first or the very last to bump in.
  • For a one-day event we would appreciate the availability of 4x 15a power and access to potable water. If the bus has to stay overnight, access to power and water is required.

Please note: Due to the unusual size of our bus, we take great care in assessing the accessibility of the location which we do in consultation with you, to make sure we can attend your event. Where needed, we will visit the location personally to determine the suitability of the terrain.

If the planned and agreed upon logistics are found to have been changed without prior consultation, and prevent us from safely accessing the location, we reserve the right to cancel our attendance and catering and keep the catering payment in full. This includes but is not limited to the following situations: changed entry/exit point to the location without prior consultation; blocked passage or risk of damage by low hanging decorations; changes to the parking location from concrete to grass after/on a rainy day.

Our total price depends on:

  • Location
  • Number of people
  • Type of waffles

Please submit a booking request for a quote.

Our calendar fills up quickly with events, sometimes 12 months ahead, especially for Fridays – Sundays. The sooner you book, the better chance of securing your date.

A 50% deposit of the total amount is required within 7 calendar days of your booking to secure your booking. The remaining 50% of the total amount is due 13 calendar days before the event date.

Please note that if we have not received full payment 7 calendar days before the event, we reserve the right to consider this as a cancellation on your behalf. The full amount will still be owed to us.

As we are committing time and resources to this event,  cancellation would result in lost income and lost business opportunities in an amount difficult to precisely calculate. Therefore the following cancellation policy applies to all on-site catering orders:

  • 30 calendar days or more prior to the event date: the full deposit will be refunded;

  • 14-29 calendar days prior to the event date: the full deposit will be retained by us;

  • 13-8 calendar days prior to the event date: 75% of full amount of the catering will be owed to us;
  • 7 calendar days or less prior to the event: the full amount of the catering will be retained/owed to us.

In our electronic invoices you can find a link to make an online, secure payment directly. We accept cash, EFT, EFTPOS (cheques and savings),  and credit cards (MasterCard, VISA, American Express, JCB).

A surcharge of 1.6% (FY21) applies to EFTPOS & credit card payments.

(His)story

of the double decker bus

View the gallery below and travel back in time as you see the bus transform from a commuter bus into a tour bus, and to the Big Blue Waffle Bus it is today.

The bus is a Leyland Atlantean and has the 4926th Leyland chassis of all types and the 1214th body built in 1979 by East Lancashire Coach Builders LTD (ELCB) , and the type is AN68B/1R (1R=length 9.798 metres). The bus was first registered on 1 February 1980 to Plymouth Corporation (UK) as a commuter bus with number 159 and license plate ODV203W. In 1982 Plymouth Corporation was rebranded into Plymouth CityBus. After fulfilling its duty as a commuter bus, the roof was taken off and became a tour bus. First in Plymouth, and after it went to Wales where the bus climbed the highest peak of Wales, Snowdon.

From there, Crunchy’s Waffles bought the bus and did a thorough restoration. The bus was sent to Australia, a 23,000 kilometres long journey that took 4 months. After arrival in Australia the bus got a professional kitchen installed on the lower level from which the team delivers the best waffles available in and around Brisbane.
